Its thick base is designed to prevent contents from burning easily, while the lid features small spikes that enable even and gentle distribution of water vapour from condensation over the contents, providing a self-basting feature. The pot’s black enamel interior features larger pores and a slightly rougher surface that gradually fills with oil over time, producing a non-stick patina similar to raw cast iron.
